Biocatalysis

Iosynth provides broad-spectrum biocatalysis services, including:

  • Enzyme screening, both wild type and engineered enzymes,
  • Biocatalysis application process development and optimization,
  • Development and optimization of workup and purification,
  • Enzyme formulation development, liquid, solid and enzyme immobilization
  • Upscaling of all processes from lab to pilot size
  • Transfer from pilot to multi-ton commercial plant

Fermentation

Our fermentation team is highly experienced and skilled in:

  • Fermentation process development and optimization of fermentation conditions
  • Development of down-streaming processing and product purification
  • Formulation development liquid and solid, including enzyme immobilization
  • Upscaling from lab to pilot to commercial plant scale

This can be applied for a broad range of fermentation-based processes:

  • Enzymes
  • Whole-cell processes
  • Synthetic biology-based processes, or
  • any other target molecule in cell factory.

We are fully equipped to take work from lab scale to pilot scale and onwards to commercial scale. We have fermenters with different sizes, centrifuge, filtration systems, high pressure homogenizer.

Chemistry

Many processes are not complete without a chemical synthesis step before or after a biological reaction. As such we consider our chemistry integration as key to our value offering.

Typical projects include synthesis of a starting material for a biological transformation. After a bio treatment, chemical steps can include purification, stabilization, and subsequent chemical synthesis steps to reach a target molecule.

Our strong chemistry team also gives us the flexibility to focus on the most efficient route of synthesis (ROS).

Manufacturing

Commercial scale manufacturing is the final and ultimate goal of all R&D projects. Through our group companies, we scale projects from lab to multi ton commercial production. This is for all kind of process types: purely fermentation based projects (such as enzyme production), for biocatalytic reactions (biological reactions on chemical substrates), or for pure organic chemistry (such as production of key starting materials (KSM) or intermediates).
